This week we will be taking the Fiction II test. We will be using the remainder of the week to reassess reading levels and begin our nonfiction unit. Our first reading strategy for nonfiction will be STP (Stop-Think-Paraphrase). This is a great strategy that you can practive at home with your nightly reading. Writing Writing is cross-curricular and will happen throughout the day in every lesson. We are currently writing the final copies of "doorbell" stories. We are working on using a dictionary to find spelling mistakes and using corrcet capitalization and punctuation in our writing. Math We will finishing up our Geometry and Measurement unit this week by identifying congruent and non-congruent shapes. The test will take place on Wednesday and our next unit will be Multiplication, Division and Time. We will begin the unit by solving multiplication problems about things that come in groups. Science Our next unit will be on Energy and Natural resources. This week we will be learning about renewable sources of energy (sun, wind, water, and wood) and how to conserve resources. Please check out the Science links for lots of fun activities that you can do at home to help understand conservation more fully. Social Studies Our next unit of study will be economics and is scheduled to begin in early February. Class Links These websites will help you with the grammar skills we are learning.
